Physiological Responses and User Feedback on a Gameful Breathing Training App: Within-Subject Experiment

چکیده
Background Slow-paced breathing training (6 breaths per minute [BPM]) improves physiological and psychological well-being by inducing relaxation characterized increased heart rate variability (HRV). However, classic has a limited target group, retention rates are very low. Although gameful approach may help overcome these challenges, it is crucial to enable in scalable context (eg, smartphone only) ensure that they remain effective. despite the health benefits, no validated mobile featuring biofeedback component based on seems exist. Objective This study aims describe design choices their implementation concrete app. Furthermore, deliver an initial validation of efficacy resulting Methods Previous work was used derive informed choices, which, turn, were applied build app Breeze. In pretest (n=3), weaknesses Breeze identified, adjusted accordingly. The then evaluated pilot (n=16). To ascertain effectiveness maintained, recordings HRV-derived measures root mean square successive differences [RMSSDs]) collected. We compared 3 stages: baseline, standard deployed smartphone, Results Overall, 5 made: use cool colors, natural settings, tightly incorporated game elements, mechanics reflecting measures, light narrative progression model. effective, as resulted slow-paced 6 BPM, significantly HRV with baseline (P<.001 for RMSSD). general, perceived positively participants. some criticized somewhat weaker clarity instructions when Conclusions implemented maintained its elements. Moreover, participants although there room improvement.

User Feedback in the App Store: A Cross-Cultural Study
App stores allow globally distributed users to submit user feedback, in the form of user reviews, about the apps they download. Previous research has found that many of these reviews contain valuable information for software evolution, such as bug reports or feature requests, and has designed approaches for automatically extracting this information. However, the diversity of the feedback submit...
متن کاملFeedback phase sensitivity of a semiconductor laser subject to filtered optical feedback: experiment and theory.
We investigate experimentally and theoretically the dynamics of a semiconductor laser subject to filtered optical feedback. Depending on the feedback strength we find dynamical regimes with different dependence on the feedback phase. In particular, the influence of the feedback phase on cw emission and on frequency oscillations is characterized experimentally. We also measure the dependence of ...
متن کاملWie erleben Anwender ihre Geschäftsprozesse? User Feedback mittels Mobile App
متن کاملMy App is an Experiment: Experience from User Studies in Mobile App Stores
Experiments are a corner stone of HCI research. Mobile distribution channels such as Apple’s App Store and Google’s Android Market have created the opportunity to bring experiments to the end user. Hardly any experience exists how to conduct such experiments successfully. This article reports about five experiments that we conducted by publishing Apps in the Android Market. The Apps are freely ...
متن کاملPlanning responses in reaction to user feedback
The Interactive Discourse Planner (IDP) plans text to justify and describe domain plans interactively. A speaker uses plan justification to have a listener adopt a recommended plan; he uses plan description to enable a listener to execute a plan. The text plan that IDP formulates and executes incrementally is represented uniformly in the same knowledge base with the domain plans that are under ...
